I believe in Less Government in people’s lives.
Government has to exist. But it doesn’t have to tell citizens when to eat, when to sleep and what to do with their own property. Government should only be large enough to provide the basic needs of a city.
I believe in Public Safety.
As a police officer, I have a special insight into crime and the needs of our police department to keep us safe. Over the next, few weeks I plan to meet with Chief Evangelis and discuss obstacles that his department is facing that could keep us from reaching the goal of a safer Wilmington. Along with Chief Evangelis, of the Wilmington PD, I will also be meeting with Chief Martinette of The Wilmington Fire Department. Having a top rated fire department is very important to any community, not only for the safety of our citizens but for how it affects the insurance rate on our property that we are battling right now.
I believe in Tax Incentives to help create and keep jobs in Wilmington.
Wilmington is a beautiful and wonderful city and the City Council shouldn’t have to pay anyone to come here. Tax money should go towards enriching the lives of the Citizens of Wilmington --- not towards a corporate welfare system. You have my pledge – here and now – that I will not use tax payers' money to talk someone into coming to Wilmington.
I believe in Voluntary Affiliation.
The annexation of Monkey Junction, and potentially Ogden, is an inappropriate exercise of governmental authority. I watched the Mayor and City Council ignore hundreds of citizens that did not want to be annexed. I do not believe this was right and will fight to see this reversed, should I be elected Mayor.
